Story
Born in Port-Harcourt - Nigeria, Amifel moved to the UK when she was five years old. Though her family roots are embedded within a traditional workforce, she paved her way into the creative arts and has now cultivated a multi-hyphen media career.
Amifel merges various disciplines through photography and film; capturing real-life stories with a socio-economic focus on the past and present lives of black people in Africa and the Western world.
In 2018, Amifel produced and directed a documentary film based on the civil war in Nigeria. ‘My History: What was it Like?’, was part of The Legacies of Biafra national and international art exhibition. The 25-minute film was also broadcasted on UNC’s Charlotte TV, for educational purposes, and went on to screen at GGM Film Festival in 2021.
Highlights of her photography have been featured in international magazines, including Glam Africa’s ‘Beyond Beauty’ campaign, where she captured real, raw and unfiltered images that challenge the beauty standards for women of colour.
Amifel’s passion for youth development led her to the charity, GlobalGirl Media UK. She joined the board of Trustees, and now contributes to helping empower and upskill young girls within the media landscape.
Her recent work and future projects are an embodiment of solution-based activism.
Creating to impact change.
